Melissa Waksman concentrates her practice in telecommunications regulatory and commercial law. Ms. Waksman brings to her current position a broad knowledge base, including in-house and government experience. Prior to her current law firm practice, Ms. Waksman had significant regulatory affairs and advocacy responsibilities on behalf of XO Communications, Inc. and then for AT&T in California. Her work included advice concerning issues relating to regulatory compliance, and she regularly represented the companies before the California Public Utilities Commission. Prior to her work in California, Ms. Waksman was a Deputy Division Chief, following an assignment as a Senior Attorney, for the Federal Communications Commission. While at the FCC, Ms. Waksman worked on numerous proceedings implementing the Telecommunications Act of 1996, including matters relating to Universal Service, local competition and the regulatory treatment of Internet Telephony. Ms. Waksman received her B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, and her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. |
