Monica Otte is the partner-in-charge of the firm’s Washington D.C. office.  She concentrates her practice in public utility, commercial and privacy law. 

Ms. Otte is a seasoned practitioner with broad experience in both domestic and international regulatory and commercial issues.  Ms. Otte is an experienced negotiator who assists her clients in finding practical business solutions to successfully negotiate complex commercial contracts and resolve commercial disputes.  She is an effective advocate for her clients before state and federal regulatory agencies and legislatures.  Ms. Otte has frequently served as lead counsel for the launch of new products and services, with responsibility for securing regulatory approvals, developing and implementing a compliance plan, and for advising on product development, marketing and advertising, partnership and outsourcing arrangements, and customer service.   In her privacy law practice, Ms.Otte focuses on helping clients manage the broad array of international and domestic compliance requirements, as well as advising on specific incidents of risk to personal data. 

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Otte was in-house counsel to AT&T, where, among other things, she served as Chief Privacy Officer.

Ms. Otte received her B.A. summa cum laude from Tufts University, and her J.D. cum laude from Cornell Law School, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Cornell International Law Journal.  Ms. Otte has served on the Cornell Law School Alumni Advisory Council.
