Our firm’s Energy Practice Group has extensive experience successfully representing retail energy suppliers, wholesale power producers and other clients in the developing alternative energy and energy efficiency markets. Our highly skilled attorneys practice before the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and have obtained electric and gas supplier licenses, filed and amended energy service tariffs and complied with complex Renewable Energy Portfolio Standards for our clients. We also draft and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements, Renewable Energy Procurement Contracts and other energy service contracts.
The firm has effectively advanced the interests of our energy clients in the New Jersey Legislature and before various state administrative agencies. We draft model legislation and regulations advancing our energy clients’ business agendas in the emerging alternative energy markets, and opening regulated energy markets to competition and customer choice.
Many clients seek our assistance with various corporate renewable energy and sustainability initiatives. We represent clients seeking state and federal grants and incentives related to sustainable investments, renewable energy development and energy efficiency enhancement. The firm has successfully obtained direct reimbursements, green building funds and credits, regulatory and tax credits and other energy efficiency incentives for our sustainability clients. We also counsel clients on issues arising from the Regional Green House Gas Initiative (“RGGI”) and federal and state climate change policy. The attorneys in our Energy Practice Group have a strong understanding of solar and renewable energy credit markets, and stand ready to assist clients in these emerging energy markets.
